Antony Waste Handling Cell: Building next 10 year story

Antony Waste’s Subsidiary, Antony Lara Enviro Solutions Secures ~₹3,200 Crore Waste-to-Energy Projects in Andhra Pradesh

  • Antony Waste Handling Cell Limited (“AWHCL”), India’s leading integrated solid waste management Company, announced that its material subsidiary, Antony Lara Enviro Solutions Private Limited, has been awarded two significant ~15 MW Waste-to-Energy (WTE) projects each in Andhra Pradesh by the New & Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh Ltd., with a total project value of ~₹3,200 crore.
  • The projects will have a construction period of ~24 months from the date of concession agreement signing, Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) execution, or land transfer, whichever is later.
  • The contract carries a concession period of 20 years, during which the power generated will be purchased by the Andhra Pradesh Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (APSPDCL), the distribution utility serving the Kurnool and YSR Kadapa regions, at a rate of ₹8.10 per unit.
  • The facility will house an advanced pretreatment Material Recovery Facility (MRF) for processing mixed municipal solid waste (MSW) prior to energy conversion. Using automated sorting and separation technologies, the MRF will recover recyclables, extract organic fractions for dedicated treatment, and process the remaining inorganic, non-recyclable residues into a calibrated feedstock for the Waste-to-Energy (WTE) plant.
  • This feedstock will be thermally treated in high-efficiency incineration units to generate renewable electricity. Designed to operate at high throughput, the facility will divert thousands of tonnes of waste from landfills daily, reduce methane and CO₂ emissions, and make a measurable contribution to the Government of India’s renewable energy capacity targets and the Swachh Bharat Mission.
  • By reinforcing AWHCL’s position at the forefront of sustainable waste management, this milestone paves the way for expanding our clean and green energy portfolio to ~44 MW once operational, accelerating India’s progress toward a cleaner and more sustainable tomorrow.
  • These projects mark a significant entry for the Antony Group into Southern India, expanding both its geographical footprint and its capabilities in the waste processing activities, in line with its strategic objectives.
  • Commenting on the contract award, Jose Jacob, Chairman & Managing Director, Antony Waste Handling Cell Limited, said, “The Company is honored to be selected by Andhra Pradesh Government for these landmark Waste-to-Energy projects, underscoring its proven technical leadership, strong execution capabilities, and deep commitment to sustainable waste management. By converting waste into clean, renewable energy, the Company addresses critical environmental and energy challenges while advancing Andhra Pradesh’s vision for a greener, cleaner future. Building on its solid track record in integrated waste management, these projects will significantly expand the Company’s renewable energy footprint, diversify revenue streams, and create lasting value for stakeholders—reinforcing its role as a key driver of India’s clean energy transition.”
